Description
- Provide prevention and detection of criminal activity and safety hazards
- Provide overall assistance to the school campus community
- Assist in restraining, apprehending, and escorting disruptive or arrested individuals
- Patrol all exteriorand interior areas of the campus while ensuring direct interaction with students and district personnel within the assigned jurisdiction
- Resolve conflict or confrontation between students, district personnel, visitors, or other persons on the assigned campus
- Report all incidents or criminal activity immediately to the supervisor
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Board of Trustees, the district, and the Police and Security Department.
- Adhere to existing district and department grooming standards and dress policies at all times for uniformed personnel
- Attend all scheduled meetings as required by the supervisor
- Required must be at least 21 years of age
- Required High School Diploma or GED
- Required Texas Department of Public Safety Level III Security License
- Willing to undergo a criminal background check, psychological exam, medical exam, and drug screening
- Ability to perform responsibilities with minimum supervision
- Demonstrate firearm proficiency by passing the Dallas ISD pistol qualification course
- Composure to de-escalate conflict situations
- Knowledge of relevant security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective school security operations for the protection of people, data and property
- Competency to deal sensitively and fairly with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to effectively interface with students, parents, and all levels of District personnel in writing and verbally
- Able to maintain the confidentiality of information
- Training and ability to subdue offenders, including the use of firearms and handcuffs
- Organizational, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills are required to achieve the goals of the position
- Must be computer literate and willing to attend training sessions
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a preferred
