Summary: High School diploma required. College, supervisory and gallery experience preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and have an aptitude for learning and using business software. Experience in scheduling a large number of staff is preferred. Must possess strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and demonstrate effective interpersonal communication. Knowledge of security principles, fire prevention, job safety and first aid is helpful. Must be able to act as a supervisor when needed and work flexible schedules and hours, including overtime, holidays, weekends, and evening events. Attendance must be reliable and punctual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend roll-call prior to shift for inspection and assignment; receive information pertaining to assignment of the day.
- Participate in training in emergency procedures.
- Comply with general orders, policies and procedures.
- Make suggestions, convey observations and acquired information to his or her supervisor.
- Firmly yet politely advise Museum staff and visitors of Museum policies.
- Give directions and answer questions.
- Constantly move through assigned area or observe from an assigned stationary location.
- Maintain a neat personal appearance and meet uniform specifications.
- Perform in drills and respond to emergencies as required by Museum policies and procedures.
- Perform light custodial work as required for daily assignment. May be required to lift or carry items as part of this task.
- Shall be required to work overtime as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Light computer use to obtain email and schedules for work.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Must interact with Museum staff and visitors in a polite and courteous manner.
- Prior museum experience is helpful. Must be dedicated to duty, possess good judgment and discretion, while being diligent in the performance of their responsibilities.
- Attendance must be reliable and punctual.
- Must be able to use a radio or similar communication device to receive and transmit information

Minimum of Range: $17.46/hour
