THIS IS A FIRE DISTRICT POSITION ONLY
The San Bernardino County Fire Protection D istrict is seeking a Finance Officer to provide administrative oversight for a major section of the Fire District's Finance Division. The Finance Officer will perform highly complex and specialized financial analysis and is responsible for developing department wide budgetary and financial strategies, policies and procedures, while supervising other professional supervisors and staff. Additional responsibilities include conducting complex organizational studies; analysis of costs and cost effectiveness; preparing statistical reports; overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, contracts, revenue recovery and maintaining compliance with financial reporting regulations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background: A successful background check is required prior to assignment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.
At-Will Status: This is an exempt position. Individuals in the Exempt group are Unclassified, do not attain regular status, and serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum Requirements
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in finance, economics, accounting, public/business administration, or other relevant field.
--- AND ---
Experience: Three (3) years of professional-level work experience with primary responsibility for directing budget or fiscal operations, and analyzing, interpreting, and making recommendations to management utilizing budget/financial analysis of cost centers, organizational structure, contracts, and/or grants. Experience must include one (1) year full-scope supervision.
Applicants with an equivalent combination of education and experience commensurate with the responsibilities of the position may be considered.
Note: Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess five (5) years of experience directing the preparation for a department or group budget; or directing the fiscal operations of a department or group in the areas of fiscal control, accounting, purchasing, collections, grant preparation and/or contract administration.
