Security Associate (26 - 27 SY)

The Community Charter School of Paterson seeking a Security Associate to provide security and protection for pupils, staff, and school property. To assist in the maintenance of an orderly, safe and pleasant atmosphere in the building that supports high-quality instruction. To ensure safe arrival and dismissal of students and assist school personnel in completing other tasks related to the efficient running of the school: answering the phone, helping students cross the street, keeping the building clean & organized, assisting with school mailings and establishing good relationships and communications with parents and other CCSP staff members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Patrols building and grounds to protect against illegal entry, acts of violence, vandalism, illegal drug activity, arson, and theft.
2. Assists with lunch duties, arrival and dismissal of students to ensure the safety of CCSP scholars.
3. Performs custodial and maintenance duties as needed.
4. Understands and supports the mission, vision, goals and values of the school as described in the charter.
5. Conducts regular inspections of windows, doors, and other points of entry to ensure that they are secure.
6. Patrols school grounds to observe unauthorized persons or vehicles, parking violations, and overall security of the outside area including exterior lighting and emergency access routes.
7. Checks identification of visitors entering the school.
8. Detains unauthorized persons; calls for police assistance in accordance with the district's security plan/crisis management plan.
9. Participates in the district's/school's emergency and crisis management plan as assigned.
10. Notifies police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention.
11. Records all observations and conditions, and reports unusual occurrences or property damage to appropriate school leadership and documents rule violations.
12. Submit written reports of all incidents of vandalism, violence, illegal drug activity, and security violations.
13. Performs related duties as assigned by Building Leader (DSO).
14. Performs related duties as workload necessitates.

Requirements:

1. High School Diploma
2. New Jersey SORA (Security Officer Registration Act) Certificate
