The City of Lancaster is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and safety-focused professional to serve as Maintenance Worker II - Storm Water. This position performs heavy labor and field work that supports the maintenance and repair of City streets and storm water drainage systems, helping keep infrastructure functioning properly and reducing drainage issues throughout the community.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining public infrastructure, and understands the importance of safety, teamwork, and reliable service. Work may include maintaining drainage culverts, bridges, storm water inlets, channels, and basins, as well as mowing, tree trimming, debris removal, and assisting with street and alley repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs maintenance and repair of City streets and storm water drainage systems, including culverts, bridges, storm water inlets, drainage channels, and drainage basins
- Uses proper safety precautions, personal protective equipment, and portable equipment such as chain saws, pole saws, and grass trimmers during cleaning and reshaping of drainage channels and structures
- Helps ensure continuous water flow during storm events through drainage maintenance and debris removal
- Operates pickup trucks for transportation to and from job sites
- May operate steel wheel rollers when assigned to assist with repair of streets and alleys
- Participates in Streets and Storm Water division activities, including asphalt and concrete roadway pavement repair, guardrail repairs, bridge maintenance, culvert maintenance, and reshaping work
- Performs mowing operations inside drainage easements and channels, along with tree trimming and debris removal
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- More than one (1) year of experience in operation and maintenance work required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Texas Class B CDL is preferred
- Must obtain Texas Class B CDL within six (6) months of employment
- Clean driving record required
- Driving is an essential function of this position
