Must be currently employed as a full-time career Firefighter with another fire department and have at least 2 years on the job as a Career Firefighter. Must have a current CPAT card. Must have successfully completed and maintained the following training and certifications: IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter I, IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter II, IFSAC or Pro Board Hazardous Materials Awareness, IFSAC or Pro Board Hazardous Materials Operations, EMT-Basic and/or ability to reciprocate with Kentucky Board of EMS for EMT-Basic certification.
The purpose of this classification is to perform firefighting and rescue operations in emergency situations, such as structural fires, motor vehicle accidents, aircraft emergencies, medical calls, bomb threats, wild land and brush fires, and hazardous material spills and leaks. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Conducts severe weather spotting. Drives and operates fire apparatus as needed. Performs water rescue operations. Performs other related duties as required, necessary, or assigned.
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in fire science preferred; supplemented by little or no previous experience or training; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert very heavy physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy objects and materials (up to 100 pounds) and occasionally heavier items (100 pounds or over). Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
