    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing, Digital Engagement and Brand Strategy (Associate Director), the Digital Media Coordinator supports the production, design, and ongoing evolution of the university’s digital presence with modern approaches to visual storytelling including photography and videography. This position supports the university’s strategic marketing and communications efforts through website content administration, user experience improvements, digital storytelling, and multimedia production.

    In consultation with the Associate Director, the Digital Media Coordinator works both independently and collaboratively to oversee website content, support digital campaigns, and create visual assets through photography and videography to enhance online engagement. The role is critical in promoting Sonoma State University to support student recruitment, retention, brand awareness, and community engagement. This position works closely with university leadership, faculty, staff, students, and external partners to maintain a dynamic, accurate, and accessible web presence that reflects institutional priorities.

    Key Qualifications

    This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Marketing/Communications and Media Studies or a related field, including a minimum of two years of experience in marketing and/or communications. Higher education experience is highly preferred. Experience working within a content management system (CMS) highly preferred. Knowledge of web accessibility standards (ADA/WCAG), search engine optimization (SEO), and user experience (UX) best practices is preferred. Experience with photography and videography, including shooting, editing, and optimizing multimedia content for digital platforms, is required. In addition, strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, and the composition of various communication vehicles are required. Strong proficiency with computers and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Google Suite, web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics), Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, or similar software), and basic HTML/CSS is preferred.

    Salary and Benefits

    This is a full-time, temporary, non-exempt position. Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience and will be in the range of $5,178 - $5,605 a month (step 1 - step 5). The CSU Classification Step Range for this position is $5,178 - $7,543 per month (step 1 - step 20). Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.

    This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
