    The LA County Department of Public Social Services has the authorization of Hiring as an Emergency under Civil Service Rule 13.04 on a limited and temporary basis. This action supports a time-sensitive, Board-directed workforce initiative requiring immediate staffing action to maintain continuity of critical public services.

    The Department of Public Social Services is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Contract Program Monitor vacancies.

    Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

    During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

    Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Contract Program Monitor .

    Essential Job Functions

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Monitors, audits and evaluates services provided by contractors.

    Makes on-site visits to conduct detailed technical inspections of services provided by contractors and to evaluate all areas of contracted services.

    Prepares inspection reports of contracted services which include fees for services.

    Investigates any potential problem areas and recommends a resolution.

    Acts as primary contact person with contractors.

    Maintains liaison with user departments for all power equipment services.

    Maintains, interprets and summarizes statistical records of contractor activities according to established procedures.

    Reports regularly to management regarding the quality, efficiency, effectiveness and cost of the contractor's work and services.

    Requirements

    Requirements to Qualify

    Option 1:
    One year (1) of experience* at the level of an Administrative Assistant III**.

    Option 2:
    Two years (2) of experience* in a contract environment*** at the level of Administrative Assistant II****.

    **Administrative Assistant III: Defines and independently analyzes and makes recommendations for the solution of highly complex operating, budgetary and financing, and other management problems of a county department, and participates in the implementation of their solution.
    ***Contract Environment: An environment where staff is involved in contract preparation, development, solicitation, administration, and the monitoring of contracted services.

    ****Administrative Assistant II:
    Analyzes and makes recommendations for the solution of a variety of problems of organization, budget, systems and procedures, program, facilities planning, general management, and personnel.

    License
    A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

    Physical
    Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
