    Job Summary

    Under the general direction of the Director of University Accounting and Reporting and with lead work direction provided by the Lead Property Analyst, the Property Analyst performs a range of technical and analytical duties in support of the University’s property control program serving the San Luis Obispo and Solano campuses. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete property records within the centralized asset management system, including processing acquisitions, transfers, adjustments, and dispositions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

    The Property Analyst reviews financial and property-related documentation to identify reportable assets, determines appropriate classifications, and ensures compliance with CSU, University, and applicable regulatory requirements. The position applies established guidelines to resolve routine and moderately complex issues, conducts reconciliations, assists with inventory activities, and supports audit preparation by compiling and verifying required documentation.

    The incumbent collaborates with campus departments to provide guidance on property procedures, responds to inquiries, and contributes to the ongoing maintenance of internal controls and documentation. The position may provide guidance to student assistants and supports the effective day-to-day administration of the property management function.

    Department Summary

    Property Accounting oversees the University’s property control program, ensuring accurate tracking and management of assets throughout their lifecycle in compliance with CSU policy and regulatory requirements. The department maintains the asset management system; supports campus-wide inventory processes, audit readiness, and reporting, while providing guidance and internal controls to safeguard University assets.

    Key Qualifications
    • Thorough knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply CSU and University policies and procedures related to property administration and control, and the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of University organizational structures and administrative processes.
    • Strong analytical skills to review financial transactions; identify and record new property; calculate acquisition costs and subsequent adjustments; and apply working knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP as related to capital assets and financial recordkeeping.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment in analyzing property transactions and physical inventory information, anticipate problems proactively, and determine appropriate courses of action within established guidelines.
    • Skill in researching, developing, and evaluating policies and programs, including collecting, interpreting, and presenting data to support sound conclusions and recommendations.
    • Ability to independently establish priorities and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in situations involving multiple and competing demands.

    Education and Experience
    • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.
    • One year of technical or administrative experience.
    • A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
    • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    Salary and Benefits

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $61,116 - $75,996 per year

    Classification Range: $57,588 - $83,904 per year

    Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
