About the Role
The Company is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to provide strategic legal leadership and counsel on a wide range of regulatory, commercial, litigation, policy, and stakeholder-related matters. The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to executive and senior management, overseeing a team of attorneys and legal professionals, and working closely with governmental and member services to advance the company's legal, regulatory, and advocacy priorities. This role is pivotal in managing legal risk, supporting regulatory compliance, and promoting an ethical environment aligned with the company's mission and core values.Key responsibilities for the Deputy General Counsel include serving as a legal expert on FERC law, policy, and organized wholesale electricity market issues, and coordinating advocacy before federal and state bodies. The role also involves developing and reviewing various legal documents, representing the company in legal proceedings, and engaging with members, stakeholders, and industry groups to support policy development and regulatory advocacy. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree, at least 15 years of legal experience, and a strong background in the electric industry, FERC regulatory matters, or organized wholesale electricity markets. A license to practice law and the ability to be admitted to the State Bar of Pennsylvania are required, with a preference for candidates holding an MBA in business administration and experience with the company's agreements, tariffs, and committee processes.
