What You'll Be Doing Wake County's Public Health Clinics offer health care for children and adults, ranging from treatment to education. We are currently seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide direct patient care in our busy outpatient clinic that serves a diverse, multilingual patient population. The essential functions of this position include: Assisting in making, processing and following up on patient referrals to collaborative partners within and outside of WCHHS such as High Risk Prenatal Clinic, Medicaid, WIC, Nutrition, Mental Health, Interact, Colposcopy, Mammogram and Ultrasonography Assessing and documenting the patient's reason for clinic visit, documenting vital signs, height, weight, last known menstrual period, allergies, etc. Implementing medical interventions per protocol such as collection of laboratory studies, administration of vaccinations, and continuation or modification of contraceptive methods Conducting patient interviews, triage, counseling and teaching related to pre-conception, contraception, prenatal, STDs and other women’s health issue Administer vaccinations and assist with simple surgical procedures Precept and supervise nurse aids and students Assist with cleaning the work areas as directed by OSHA regulations Other duties as assigned About Our Team Wake County Health and Human Services (WCHHS) is the consolidation of programs and services that include social services, public health, job search assistance, child support, and transportation. Laboratory and Pharmacy are considered support services for both the Health Clinics and Public Health Divisions.
