Position Duties 45% – Post Award Grant Support: Reviews and verifies CEOAS grant and contract revenues and expenditures for accuracy and allowability. Assists Principal Investigators (PIs) with spend plans, salary distribution forecasts, and prepares labor distribution forms supporting grant activity. Resolves accounting errors through the OSU Banner Financial Information System (FIS) by making appropriate cost transfer reversals or correcting entries by adjusting debits and credits; assigning appropriate account codes and activity codes as needed, and ensuring a proper audit trail. Assists PIs with budget revisions. Works as liaison between PI, College and Office for Sponsored Research and Award Administration (OSRAA) as appropriate. Assists CEOAS, FOBC, PI and OSRAA in monitoring timely close-out of awards. Ensures College commitments are met under a variety of grant funded projects (each having its own regulations and guidelines). Acts as liaison between OSRAA and PI for invoices, final reports and extensions. Identifies potentially unallowable grant and contract costs. Assists business center staff with fiscal year closeout duties. Manages and monitors requests that come into the general Business Center Accounting email addresses. Prepares and provides financial reports to PIs on a recurring basis, identifies potential issues, and works with PIs on resolution. Coordinate subcontracts on sponsored awards; track and review invoices and initiate amendments as necessary. Provides approval of expenses on restricted grant funds. 45% –Pre-Award Grant support: Member of a team that reviews, identifies errors, re-checks, and approves, often facing strict deadlines, over 250 research funding proposal budgets annually, accounting for a funding stream of over $40 million, by applying budget guidelines in accordance with Oregon State University (OSU) and grantor regulations relevant to salary scales, fringe benefits, indirect costs, and other allowable budget items, to assist PIs with this fundamental mechanism for College funding. All CEOAS research proposals must have Business Center written approval prior to submission to the OSU Research Office. Responsible for timely completion of proposals assigned. Work with other campus stakeholders on process improvements for proposal submission process. Serve as liaison between CEOAS personnel and OSRAA to submit proposals by providing information and clarification where needed. Occasionally work with external stakeholders for submission of collaborative research proposals. Work with CEOAS proposal team on refining and developing proposal resources to improve PIs’ experience with the proposal submission process. 10% – Other Duties as Assigned: Stays current and continues education with OSU policies, guidelines, manuals, and Federal regulations, cross-trains with FOBC Forestry accounting staff to provide support when necessary; other duties as assigned by supervisor.
