POSITION EXPECTATIONS The Skilled Trades Assistant will learn the practices and procedures to install and perform progressively skilled preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including commercial restrooms, kitchens, refrigeration, appliances, and lighting systems in and around LVCC facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with journey-level position assignments to learn the practices and procedures in the plumbing trades (and others). Assist in routine to complex installation, maintenance and repairs related to boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, motors, compressors, electrical, kitchen and refrigeration equipment. Obtain and organize necessary tools, equipment, and materials for the assigned tradesperson. Learn how to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems equipment in LVCC facilities. Safely and accurately operate the following for job completion: Power and hand tools Testing and diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, ammeters, compound gauges, and pressure gauges etc. Various motorized equipment: carts, lifts, vehicles, etc. Read blueprints and schematics to diagnose repairs on equipment.Complete work orders for jobs performed.Clean areas after jobs are completed.Assist skilled tradespersons in maintaining appropriate logs and records.
