ABOUT THE POSITION The Clark County Comprehensive Planning Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Senior Planner position. This position performs professional current and/or advanced planning work, including conducting planning studies; collecting data, preparing reports, presenting data; and providing information and advice to the public in person, electronically, and over the telephone. Current Planning Division The Senior Planner in the Current Planning Division primarily reviews proposed projects for conformance with Clark County’s Master Plan and Unified Development Code (Title 30). Proposed projects require decision by the Planning Commission or the Board of County Commissioners and generally includes zone changes, special use permits, waivers of development standards, major subdivisions, and design reviews as well as administrative applications. This position is also responsible for providing information on zoning matters to the public. Advanced Planning Division The Senior Planner in the Advanced Planning Division is primarily responsible for long range planning projects. Assignments within this Division include Master Plan updates and amendments, parks planning, trails planning, demographic information, and special projects. These projects require close coordination with a variety of departments; local, state, and federal agencies; and may include public outreach with town advisory boards and citizen advisory councils and are part of a public hearing process that involves the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners. In addition, this division is responsible for maintaining Title 30 with regular updates of revised regulations to promote public health, safety, and general welfare. Parks Planning Parks Planning is primarily responsible for the coordination of park planning projects. In coordination with other departments and agencies, this position develops and maintains the park capital project ranking criteria, park district assessment, level of service, gap analysis, park funding options, inventory of vacant park lands and provides input on the design and construction of SNPLMA funded park projects. In addition, this position is responsible for processing Master Plan Amendments and Zone Changes related to parks and working with other staff to update the Recreation and Open Space sections of the Master Plan. Trails Planning Trails Planning is primarily responsible for the coordination of trails planning projects. In coordination with other departments and outside agencies, this position assists in the planning and siting of new trails and reviews land use applications for conformity with existing or planned trails. The position also coordinates new trail funding, design, and construction. In addition, this position is responsible for processing Master Plan amendments and zone changes related to trails and working with other staff to update the Recreation and Open Space sections of the Master Plan. This is an open and continuous recruitment, scheduling dates will vary depending on when the application was received and reviewed by Human Resources.
