The City does not belong to the Social Security system. Therefore, enrollment in the PARSARS 457 retirement program is mandatory and requires a contribution of 7.5% of base earnings. The City contributes 1.3%, and the employee contributes 6.2% of base earnings; contributions are made each pay period on a pre-tax basis. Pursuant to the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014 (AB 1522), eligible part-time employees will accrue 40 hours or five (5) days of paid sick leave each fiscal year for a maximum accrual of 80 hours.
