HSC Post Doctoral Rsch Assoc-Mariappan Lab Lubbock 38278BR Position Description Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research at TTUHSC. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with Ph.D studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants. Major/Essential Functions A Postdoctoral Researcher Associate position is open immediately in Dr. Mariappans Lab in the Department of Cell Biology and Biochemistry, TTUHSC, Lubbock, Texas, USA, to investigate membrane protein quality control and its relevance in neurodegenerative diseases. We utilize CRISPR/Cas9 edited cell lines and various imaging and biochemical methodologies. We welcome highly motivated candidates with Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or other relevant branches of biological sciences to join our team. The candidate will maintain and generate CRISPR/Cas8-mediated knockout cell lines, including HeLa cells and neuronal cells (such as N2A and PC12) cell lines, and the degradation of model membrane proteins through confocal and live cell microscopy techniques, immunoprecipitations, and Western Blotting. Experience in various imaging techniques will be a plus. Required Qualifications Education: PhD or equivalent doctorate (e.g., D.Sc., M.D.) in area of project specialization. Experience: Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes.
