Or: Five years of full-time paid experience at the lead level, or higher, in an automotive or equipment repair shop or program, including responsibility for staff engaged in inventory/storekeeping duties such as ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and inventorying a variety of parts, fuel, equipment, tools, supplies and services used in the repair, service, and maintenance of automotive vehicles or heavy equipment. Note: Coursework from an accredited college, vocational training school, or military training program in Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Heavy Maintenance Equipment Repair, or Construction Equipment Repair, or other area or field closely related to the intent of the class may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience on the basis of 2.5 semester units (3.75 quarter units) are equal to one month of experience. General Qualifications Criminal History and Background Checks: The County may access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment for this class consistent with the provisions of Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 82-602, Personnel Policies, and applicable federal and state laws. The County shall not consider for employment any candidate who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor that relates to or impacts the candidate’s ability to perform the job duties of this class unless it is determined that mitigating circumstances exist. Climb ladders to access large pieces of equipment. Work while wearing approved personal protective equipment as required. GENERAL BENEFITS: Most employee benefits are similar to the following for all County employees. However, some benefits differ, depending on the employee representation unit to which the employee's job classification is assigned. SALARY STEP INCREASES: The beginning salary and the top of the salary range are usually shown on the job announcement. TUITION REIMBURSEMENT: Dependent upon union agreements, regular County employees may be eligible to receive Tuition Reimbursement. RETIREMENT: Social Security and Sacramento County Employees' Retirement System coverage. HEALTH INSURANCE: The County offers a variety of health plan design options to fit individual needs. DENTAL INSURANCE: The County provides a comprehensive dental benefit program for regular full-time and part-time employees and their eligible dependents. This plan pays on a set fee schedule that varies by procedure. Any amount over the fee schedule is the employee's responsibility. The yearly maximum is $2,000 per person, not including orthodontia. The orthodontic benefit is 50% of covered charges with a lifetime maximum of $1,000 per person.
