Utilize computer and application-based technologies as required to complete instructional and assessment duties. Includes using the assigned Cougar Course. Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accord with the university and school requirements and deadlines. Communicate effectively with course coordinator, colleagues, laboratory staff, and/or clinical agency personnel to resolve issues or concerns; work effectively as part of the overall faculty team demonstrating positive and collaborative interpersonal relations to meet student needs. Attend faculty meetings. Complete all SoN orientation requirements and respond to administrative requests and in-service requirements in a timely manner. Clinical &/or Simulation Supervision Collaborate with clinical agency personnel to arrange site orientations and clinical experiences, to ensure compliance with all agency and other regulatory requirements. Prepare clinical experiences at assigned clinical site prior to student arrival to facilitate student learning and respect clinical facility norms and operations. Provide students with appropriate learning experiences whenever possible; revise clinical assignments as needed, based on student progression. Supervise students in successfully completing course requirements, including demonstrating, modeling, and assisting with the full range of patient care situations. Collaborate with Simulation team as directed during students' simulation experience. Maintain professional practice knowledge base and skills needed to instruct learners in contemporary nursing practice for assigned course. Other duties Complete annual performance evaluation per university requirements. Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Nursing Department Overview [ Department website ] As part of the College of Health and Human Services, the School of Nursing offers a Baccalaureate in Science, Nursing as well as a Master's in Science, Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice. The mission of the School of Nursing is to offer quality nursing education to undergraduate and graduate nursing students. This education prepares nurses to make clinical decisions based on theory and research. Position Summary [ Course Catalog link ] The successful applicant will teach Practicum courses in Nursing. ( See below the areas for course requirements ) The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such as: Practicums in Medical/Surgical, Obstetric, or Pediatrics Nursing or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students Instructor Responsibility : Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306 , paragraph 2. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e. asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Nursing Department Overview [ Department website ] As part of the College of Health and Human Services, the School of Nursing offers a Baccalaureate in Science, Nursing as well as a Master's in Science, Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice. The mission of the School of Nursing is to offer quality nursing education to undergraduate and graduate nursing students. This education prepares nurses to make clinical decisions based on theory and research. Position Summary [ Course Catalog link ] The successful applicant will teach Practicum courses in Nursing. ( See below the areas for course requirements ) The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such as: Practicums in Medical/Surgical, Obstetric, or Pediatrics Nursing or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students Instructor Responsibility : Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306 , paragraph 2. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e. asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. These provisions state the “Order of Work,” or the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty, starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees. Appointees will be required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions). Compensation - Commensurate by qualifications and experience within salary range placement. The salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master's degree is $4,530.00 - $6,056.00 per a month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per an academic term. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the Department. Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool will remain in place for two academic terms; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply.
