    This is a senior-level position specialized in complex administrative support for the Office of Professional Standards Director involving a high degree of independent judgment and action. Work involves responsibility for making independent decisions based upon knowledge of Departmental and Unit operations, policies, and procedures. This position requires organizing, planning and coordination of unit activities and confers with the OPS Director regarding unit business issues. Recommends changes in operational policies and procedures for approval by the supervisor; prepares and communicates instructions regarding changes and clarification of policy; ensures policies and procedures are provided to the unit. Responds to inquiries from state officials, customers, vendors and the public regarding unit matters. Researches and compiles pertinent program or fiscal and budget information and prepares complex reports or spreadsheets. Prepares documents for archiving and maintains unit records. Processes requests for legal documents for evidentiary purposes for outside law enforcement agencies. Processes request to fill vacant positions within the unit, along with all hiring documentation. The position serves as the liaison to unit clerical within OPS. This position requires a high level of discretion as sensitive documents and information is maintained by the Office of Professional Standards.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Two or more years of experience as a Lead Administrative Support Assistant with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency. OR

    Four or more years of supervisory or semi-professional clerical/office management experience; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

    (Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience, at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year)

    All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed.

    Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:

    • A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
    • A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
    • A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.


    The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
