    Role

    This is a Part-time position.

    Under direct supervision, provides public health nursing services which are routine in nature.

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

      • Assists with program development and quality improvement and ensures efficiency with provision of services.
      • Conducts community outreach, which may include public speaking.
      • Provides consultation to staff, the public, schools, and childcare providers according to expertise.
      • Partners with families and caregivers to promote the health and well-being of family members.
      • Participates in case conferences, staff meetings, and department meetings as required.
      • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    • COMMUNITY BASED
      • Manages client caseload and maintains contact with clients through visitation and phone follow up.
      • Interacts with parents/caregivers and young children, conducts age-appropriate assessments, provides parent/caregiver education related to health/development/safety, nutrition, medical issues. Monitors the child’s growth and development, behaviors, parent child interaction. Utilizes program curriculum to assist parents/caregivers in understanding the skills required to help provide for and promote their child’s health and development.

    • CLINIC BASED
      • Interfaces with patients, makes appropriate assessments, collects samples, draws blood, administers vaccinations, dispenses medication per standing order and protocols, reviews lab results, and makes appropriate referrals.
      • Administers vaccines according to Advisory Committee Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended schedule.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    Registered Nurse licensed in Arizona.

    Experience:
    No experience required.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
    Must be Registered Nurse from an accredited school.
    Must possess current Arizona Nursing license.
    Must possess a current fingerprint clearance card Issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

    • Resources and referral sources for specific area of practice.
    • Applicable statutes, standards, policies, and regulations relating to specific area of practice.
    • Implementation of emergency medicine.
    • Managing patient schedule and vaccine inventory.
    • Medical office operations.
    • Maternal and Child Health nursing.
    • Cultural diversity and implications in delivering healthcare.
    • Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
    • Clerical office practices and procedures.
    • Research techniques and report writing.
    • Current Microsoft Office software.
    • Filing and recordkeeping.
    Skill in:
    • Monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
    • Demonstrating care, concern, and courtesy when dealing with people.
    • Providing clients with information needed to make personal health decisions.
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
    • Organization and adherence to detail.
    Ability to:
    • identify potential problems effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
    • Assure timely compliance with all YCCHS/ADHS reporting requirements.
    • Comply with Yavapai County personnel policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrate expertise in assigned specialties and specific job duties.
    • Respond to community emergencies with a public health consequence according to the Community Health Service's Emergency Response Plan.
    • Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
    • Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
    • Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
    • Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
    Work Environment:
    The work environment is associated with an office and/or clinic setting. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to blood and body fluids and occasionally may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
