About UsBill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake is one of Orlando’s Signature Parks, spanning 183 acres of recreational and natural space. The park blends traditional recreation, environmental education, and large-scale public use while serving residents, visitors, and community partners year-round.
Your RoleAs the Turkey Lake Park Manager, you will lead the daily operations of a complex City park while developing your skills as a senior park leader. You will supervise staff, manage facilities and programs, coordinate events, and ensure a safe, welcoming experience for the public.
This role is well suited for park professionals ready to take on full park responsibility with guidance and support from your leadership. You’ll be trusted to lead, expected to adapt quickly, and supported as you learn City systems and processes.
What You’ll Do- Manage daily operations of a 183-acre park including fishing, camping, disc golf, nature trails, children’s farm, boarding stables, and special events.
- Supervise professional, technical, and maintenance staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluation.
- Oversee recreational, educational, and nature-based programming while balancing public access and environmental protection.
- Manage park budgets, monitor revenues and expenses, and maintain accurate financial and operational records.
- Coordinate contracts, vendors, rentals, and special events in compliance with City and park policies.
- Address customer concerns, operational challenges, and competing priorities with sound judgment and professionalism.
- Represent the City at meetings, public events, and with community partners.
Who You AreYou are a capable and organized park professional who communicates clearly and stays calm when priorities compete. You are confident in your ability to learn, adapt, and ask questions when needed. You may not have managed a park of this size before, but you know how to build trust, lead people, and take ownership of complex operations.
You value structure and guidance early on, but you’re motivated by responsibility and growth. You understand that successful park management requires flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to shift quickly between people, programs, facilities, and public needs.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (Parks and Recreation, Environmental, Natural Resources, or Leisure Services preferred) and three (3) years park experience
required, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity
required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License
required.
Must pass a criminal background check and polygraph.
Required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed based on program and event schedules.
