    Overview

    Under general administrative direction, oversees the operations of the Code Compliance Division of Development Services. Responsible for evaluating and developing training programs for the Division. Will research best practices and develop implementation plans for the division to develop best practices. Provides updates to staff on changes in property maintenance codes, ordinances, and laws.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensures supervision of the division to provide staff with best direction in the application of job duties. Coordinates with Development Services management to develop approaches to employ best practices in the division

    • Will provide subject matter expert analysis on City Ordinances, Property Maintenance Codes, and other applicable laws to the Department and senior leadership

    • Provides consistent support and coaching to the divisional staff. Assists supervisors with prioritizing work assignments and deadlines to attain outcomes and meet needs

    • Develop and initiates approaches to inform and educate the public and staff about Code Compliance

    • Assists senior leadership in the development and implementation of business and strategic planning

    • Ensures efforts of the division align with industry best practices during day-to-day operations

    • Conducts routine QA/QC to ensure performance metrics are met and adhered to. Ensures daily workload is balanced between proactive and reactive cases to ensure full deployment of work force

    Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

    • Exempt - Full-Time

    • Non-Rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

    • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)

    • Five (5) years of experience

    Licenses and Certifications

    Required

    • Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Registered/Licensed Code Enforcement Officer at time of hire

    • CEAT Certified Code Compliance Officer II within six (6) months of hire

    • ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector within twelve (12) months of hire

    • Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 Training within six (6) months of hire

    • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

    Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:

    • Criminal Background Check: Yes

    • Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes

    • Drug Screening: Yes

    • Physical Exam: Yes

    Basis of Rating

    A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
