  • Job Description

    The San Joaquin County Department of Public Works is seeking a dynamic , team-oriented and progressive thinking individual to fill a senior level engineering position (Engineer V) in the Engineering Division. The Engineer V will lead in the planning, design, management and delivery of a wide range of projects and programs that improve and enhance the County’s 1,649 miles of roadways.

    This position will be responsible for planning, directing, and administering the work of an engineering unit by applying advanced engineering principles and practices to complex work problems; assign, train, supervise, and evaluate subordinate staff; establish and maintain effective working relationships; and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 

  • Job Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    Either I

    Experience: Two years as an Engineer IV in San Joaquin County.

    Or II

    Experience: Two years of experience as either a Registered Civil Engineer or Traffic Engineer in an organization performing diversified public works activities.

    And

     

    Licenses & Certificates:

    • Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil or Traffic Engineer as issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors; and
    • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

    The Ideal Candidate

    The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, technical and managerial skills with experience in public sector engineering projects. The candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage relationships with staff, administration, consultants, federal and state agencies, community stakeholders, and elected officials. This position will be expected to provide clear, concise and informed recommendations to the Public Works Administration.
