This position will participate in the implementation and subsequent operation of complex cybersecurity projects and will work with a team from various organizations within the Missouri State Government. The position requires a good understanding of general cybersecurity architecture and design, networking, VPN, SIEM solutions, endpoint protection, data loss prevention, intrusion detection and prevention, web application and next-generation network firewalls, zero trust design and an overall understanding of best security practices. This position will be responsible for updating cyber security team leaders on the progress of assigned project tasks, maintaining a project management record for all assigned tasks, and reporting weekly progress to the CISO.

This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD), supporting the Office of Cyber Security (OCS).

- Participate in complex cyber projects with a team of security staff, vendors, and State of Missouri multi-disciplinary resources.
- Provide sharing of expertise to the security team, state data center, and agency support staff for new and existing projects.
- Ensure system protections are in place by following NIST 800.53 standards.
- Recognize security issues and report any violations of security standards.
- Assess and implement security for new and existing projects.
- Work with vendors to perform regular security assessments and ensure that recommended actions are implemented.
- Ensure the cybersecurity implementations are maintained at current supported levels.
- Maintain technical knowledge through continued education to keep up with trends in security.
- A bachelor's or associate degree related to Computer Information Systems and multi-functional IT experience, including intermediate experience with the following, or similar, State of Missouri IT-related services.
- Strong understanding of network, routing, VPN, and security best practices.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Next Gen Firewall administration.

- Intrusion Detection and Prevention.
- Endpoint protection.
- Basic understanding of zero-trust architecture.
- Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant. Knowledge of IT forensic concepts, domain structures, user authentication, and digital signatures. Knowledge of intrusion detection methods and techniques, and internet architecture. Ability to think methodically and critically. Ability to recognize security intrusions and take appropriate action. Ability to research and identify causes of security breaches.
