Job Summary Within the overall guidance of the Division Manager of Engineering & System Planning, supervises the daily activities and employees of the Bryan Texas Utilities ( BTU ) Meter Shop.
Essential Job Functions - Oversees the day-to-day management of Meter Shop staff and performs personnel administrative functions including, but not limited to hiring, training, providing guidance, prioritizing and allocating work, enforcing performance standards, approving time, conducting performance reviews, recommending wage/salary Increases, and recommending corrective action.
- Responsible for applying and accurately accounting for revenue metering including: large commercial, industrial, and ERCOT Polled settlement meter installations.
- Supervises and/or assists in metering operations including meter accuracy testing, instrument transformer ratio and burden checks, programming and configuration of meters.
- Oversees daily monitoring and assessment of AMI meter alerts and alarms.
- Oversees daily disconnect/reconnect/ CNP functions of non-remote disconnect AMI meters and failed remote disconnect AMI meters.
- Supervises the periodic inspection and maintenance of distribution automation equipment, capacitors, regulators, and reclosers.
- Oversees installation, periodic testing, and site certification of TDSP ERCOT Polled Settlement metering sites, including the timely submittal of required project documentation.
- Troubleshoots metering related customer complaints to satisfactory conclusion, including the recommendation of cost effective measures to correct or eliminate problems.
- Coordinates the training and development of meter shop employees, including monitoring, reviewing and enhancing the Electric Meter Tester Apprentice program.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology plus at least six (6) years of direct experience in installation of instrument rated meters, commercial and residential meter testing, programming of electronic meters, ERCOT metering, or other related experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree plus at least four (4) years experience as stated above.
- Some previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience is required, as determined by the department.
Preferred:
- Experience with RF AMI or SMART metering technology.
Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification, and training may be considered.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements - Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
- Participates in the Transmission and Distribution Departments’ 24 hour on-call rotation.
