Why you’ll love this position:The Office of Geospatial Information (OGI) is seeking to fill a GIS Solutions Engineer position to provide support to maintain its cutting-edge GIS infrastructure. You will be involved in developing, managing, upgrading and maintaining ArcGIS Enterprise System, Enterprise Geodatabase, ArcGIS Online/Velocity Administration. You will be involved in developing policies and strategies, as well as methodologies for utilizing GIS Enterprise and database usage.
This position is within the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division, Office of Geospatial Information.

- Consult and closely work with the GIS Team Manager and other team members to evaluate and plan organizational GIS needs.
- Plans, coordinates, facilitates, and works on ArcGIS Enterprise deployment, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Plans, coordinates, facilitates, and works on Enterprise Geodatabase deployment, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Provides guidance on GIS data acquisition, implementation, and management of geodatabase schema, with consultation with GIS Manager.
- Automate the server upgrade process. Monitor servers, troubleshoot servers and services.
- Apply service patch/resolve cybersecurity issues.
- Develop custom tools/scripts in Python. Troubleshoot complex issues. Work closely with the other Application Development team to troubleshoot issues.
- Plan and coordinate desktop software upgrade with the Desktop Management Team.
- Plan, design, and develop ESRI ArcGIS Online Web applications, including experience builder, operations dashboards, custom interactive web map applications, field maps applications, and hub site with custom initiatives.
- Serves as an expert on spatial technology matters. Participates in other GIS activities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Environmental Science/Geology, or a closely related field with a strong GIS/IT emphasis.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and extensions (such as Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst etc.).
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise System, ArcGIS Servers, and ArcGIS Monitor.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Enterprise Geodatabases administration, database design.
- Experiences in ESRI cloud-based technology that are utilized by ArcGIS Online.
- Experiences in Python (especially ArcPy/ArcGIS API for Python), Arcade or any other scripting language, such as JavaScript, SQL programming desired.
- Ability to learn and integrate different technology platforms in creating solutions for complex business needs.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex GIS applications.
- Ability to convey technical information and concepts to non-technical staff and stakeholders.
- Serves as an expert on spatial technology matters.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to define a problem, analyze relevant information, and develop solutions and plans to solve the problem.
- Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to be self-motivated, exercise independent judgment and take action on it.
- Ability to learn and adapt to changing GIS technologies and capabilities.
