Regulatory Inspector Division of Professional Registration State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners Posting Closes 01/23/2026 Base Salary $39,455 (The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the candidate selected is eligible for a years-of-service pay differential, it will be added to the total compensation. A pay differential does not raise the base pay.)
Job Location: Division of Professional Registration, State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners, 3605 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, Missouri 65109. This position will work from a home office and the region covered is Jackson county. Significant day travel is required.

• Schedule and conduct initial, annual, board directed, random, and follow-up inspections of assigned cosmetology and barber establishments and schools to assure conformity with applicable state laws, rules and regulations
• Verify licensure of professionals and businesses and associated business documentation as it relates to licensure requirements.
• Prepare detailed reports of inspection
• Testify at administrative or judicial proceedings regarding inspection procedures and findings
• Receive and refer inquiries from licensees, students, consumers, public officials and the general public to appropriate board personnel.
• This position is required to travel up to 95% of the time with minimal overnight travel.
What we are looking for: Minimum Qualifications - 1-2 years of experience as a Customer Service Representative; a licensed professional in an industry regulated by the Division of Professional Registration; or professional or technical experience in business administration, licensing, law enforcement or closely related areas will qualify as relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel preferred.
