Full-time position available with the Housing and Community Development Department, Tenant Advocacy Division, located at 414 E. 12th St.
Starting Salary: $20.48/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework available 1 day a week, after 6-month probationary period at Directors discretion

Responsibilities
- Engages with tenants to record, investigate, and respond to housing issues.
- Investigates rights violations.
- Coordinates efforts between Housing, Health Homes, and other departments to hold violators accountable.
- Establishes processes to protect tenants' rights through union recognition, collective bargaining, and more.
- Provides on-site tenant outreach by conducting distributing materials.
- Connect tenants with city programs, direct services, legal resources.
- Participates in continued education with community organizations.
- Collects and analyzes trends related to tenants' rights violations, common issues.
- Uses highly effective communication skills, especially related to crisis management and coordination across many teams.
- Assist customers over the telephone and in person.
- Has demonstrated ability to navigate complex situations.
- Possesses a responsive and solutions-oriented mindset, a desire to get things done and to ensure laws are properly implemented and enforced.
- Must have strong relationship development skills, including the ability to relate to a wide range of people and institutions and de-escalate combative conversations.
- Performs resource coordination regarding affordable housing, fair housing, tenant rights and eviction.
- Provides data analysis of the subject matter as it relates to the population around tenant rights/evictions and fair housing.
- Demonstrates strong skills in the areas of customer service, verbal and written communication, telephone usage, interpersonal relationships, information technology.
- Maintains the appropriate level of training as required by the department.
- Maintains and establishes effective working relationships with employees, municipal officials, and the public.
- Assists with preparation of presentations and other projects.
- Assists with preparation of projects, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience to include professional experience in the development and/or operation of administrative systems, programs, policies and practice.
Preference for applicants with experience in data tracking, customer service, intermediate word processing, spreadsheet, and database maintenance. Other Information
