Job Location: This position will be located at 912 Annex Wildwood Dr., Jefferson City, Missouri.
Why you’ll love this position:In this role you will be an integral part of the Division of Administration leadership team of Missouri's Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). You will have the opportunity to lead and motivate division teams and manage the successful operation of Human Resources. This role reports directly to the Director of Administration and collaborates with the members of the department senior staff. As the Senior HR Leader you will have the ability to plan, direct, manage, supervise, and coordinate all aspects of human resources practices and processes. As the Senior HR Leader you will be at the forefront leading of a wide range of activities including policy development, payroll, employee relations, classification, compensation, benefits administrator, recruitment, retention, employee wellness, recognition, and employee leadership, training and development. You will have the opportunity to collaborate and manage change within all levels of the organization in multiple capacities, while performing both an administrative and strategic role.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
- Supervise Workforce Development and Training, Recognition, Employee Wellness, Recruitment, Business Partnerships, Employee Relations, and HR specialties.
- Ensure the organization complies with federal, state, local, and industry labor and safety laws and policies.
- Assist management on organizational change and process improvements.
- Review, revise, research and develop DHSS’ administrative policies.
- Advises and counsels managers and department management regarding discipline without punishment measures, policy interpretation and application, and other complex human resources issues.
- Maintain a current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws regarding Human Resources.
- Lead the department's organizational culture clarity by increasing alignment between culture and core values and enhancement of the business and customer/community relations.
- Actively develop department people strategies including increase in health and well-being; talent management through training and leadership development; strategizing employee appreciation efforts; improving the overall employee experience; and developing of workforce analytics/metrics.
- Coordinating professional development opportunities for DHSS staff.
- Communicate with department leadership regarding workforce and organizational health strategies.
- Remain current on organizational health literature, best practices and trends incorporating this information into updates with leadership and performance of role.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to diffuse stressful situations and mediate sound resolutions.
- Professionalism, attention to detail, flexibility, and discretion in managing confidential information.
- Ability to travel including overnight travel when necessary.
