Job Description: This non-sworn trainee classification works under close supervision participating in training work leading to progressively responsible tasks in several areas of the Police Department, including, but not limited to Parking/Traffic Enforcement and Investigative Services.

Background Investigation A comprehensive background investigation will be conducted on all finalists, which will review and verify personal history including, but not limited to, financial responsibility, criminal history, drug use history, driving record, and verification of application materials. Trains to become the liaison between courts and the Police Department.

Learns to process subpoenas received by the Police Department and ensure they are timely served to the officers.

Assist in gathering and providing materials needed for discovery or court related purposes, including but not limited to, reports, documents, audio recordings, video recordings, and photographs within established timeframes.

Reviews a variety of police reports for legal issues, accuracy, and completeness; takes appropriate action to correct problems; initiates follow-up as needed.

Working Conditions Work may be performed outside in a variety of field and weather conditions or indoors in an office setting or confined quarters.
Work is performed on a 24-hour rotating shift.
Weekend or holiday work may be required.
Emergency response may be required 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
