Overview The Utility Line Locator is responsible for the timely response to line locate requests issued from the One Call Center and assigned through the KorWeb Ticket Management System
Responsibilities • Locate and mark underground City Pipelines with the use of dual frequency radio detention devices, probe rods and metal detectors
• Travel to sites within the City and working the majority of the time in the field
• Occasionally may have to dig to locate valve boxes or lead wires covered by dirt and debris in order to locate the pipeline
• Identify areas of high excavation activity, maintain markings, inspect for unreported damages or threats to City facility
• Meet with contractors, city work crews, builders, developers and the general public as necessary to discuss the location of City pipelines
• Document and record essential information related to locating the City's pipelines
• Research as-built drawings, map books, and GIS maps to verify pipeline locations in the field; obtain dimensions from plats to determine pipeline locations
• Use One Call ticket management software and applications in the field
• Update maps with the map room as needed
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma/GED
• No prior experience required
Licenses and Certifications Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
