    Water Commissioner (Well Supervisor) Division of Water Resources
    The mission of the Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR) is to responsibly manage Nevada's limited
    water resources in accordance with State law and best available science.

    NDWR is dedicated to actively managing water resources for the benefit of Nevada citizens in a way that
    protects the resource for long-term sustainability, and to provide the public access to information, assistance
    and exemplary service in performing the duties and responsibilities of the Division.

    The Southern Nevada Branch office is responsible for effective
    oversight and management of the water resources in Southern Nevada.

    This field office does this by assisting with the following duties: day to
    day public assistance, reviewing subdivision maps, completing
    pumpage inventories, well drilling supervision and licensing,
    conducting field investigations, collecting water measurements and
    represents the State Engineer at meetings, hearings and other events.

    No other sections fall
    under this job. This
    position reports
    directly to the Chief,
    Southern Nevada
    Branch and works
    closely with other staff
    in the Southern Nevada
    Branch Offices and in
    Carson City and other
    field offices. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently
    with minimal supervision as well as in a team
    environment, and be highly professional, well-organized
    and self-motivated. The ideal candidate would bring a
    strong foundation of Nevada's water resources and a
    commitment to public service.

    This position is located within the Southern Nevada
    Branch Office in Las Vegas. The duties include but are
    not limited to public assistance, meter and water level
    database entry and management, data collection for
    pumpage inventory reports, field investigations, and
    other duties as assigned.

    Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) education and two years technical
    experience; OR Associates degree from an accredited college, university or technical school with
    major course work in engineering, engineering technology, geographic information systems
    (GIS), math, physical sciences, or related field; OR one year as an Engineering Technician III in
    Nevada State service; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major
    course work in engineering, hydrology, mathematics or closely related field; OR an equivalent
    combination of education and experience in which the applicant has demonstrated possession
    of the entry-level knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the position.

    Preferred skills for this
    position include
    knowledge of Nevada
    water laws and
    regulations, experience
    conducting water level
    measurements.

In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
