The annual salary listed for this position includes the additional $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend ($1,560 annually) for all full-time positions domiciled in a maximum security institution.A position in the Missouri Department of Corrections is more than a job. This is a mid-level position accountable for performing mechanical and body work on vehicles, light and/or heavy equipment.
Inspection, diagnoses, maintenance, repair, modification, and restoration of vehicles, heavy maintenance and construction equipment, and power generation equipment.
Organize work on a daily basis, exercising independence and judgment. Prepare and maintain garage records and reports; approve requests for parts and materials; supervise and/or schedules the maintenance/repair of vehicles to ensure jobs are handled in the most efficient manner with equipment available.
Employees may supervise offender workers.
Minimum Qualifications: Two or more years of experience relevant/similar to the listed job functions. Preferred Qualifications/Skills: - Knowledge of electronics, computer operations, and diagnostic system.
- S kill in diagnosing and repairing mechanical defects.
- Ability to use diagnostic and other tools needed in the performance of tasks.
- Ability to lift heavy loads and work in various positions.

- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.
The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
