Examples of Duties

IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL:

• Educate patrons in locating materials or information in all areas of the library. Provide readers' advisory services and assist patrons in the use of all library technologies.
• Address escalated or complex patron issues, library system or policy items as assigned.
• Collaborate with the Circulation Supervisor to maintain the Automated Materials Handler.
• Reconcile daily cash deposits, copier deposits, and Go Print deposits.
• Resolve issues with damaged and/or problem items.
• Sort, shelve, and maintain the order and presentation of library materials according to Library's standards.
• Provide customer service to internal and external customers, greet, receive, address, and resolve customer questions as able and refer complex inquiries, requests or complaints to appropriate staff.
• Work service desk, assisting patrons with checking out library materials and using public computers.
• Register patrons for library cards, help with fees, place holds, and perform payment transactions.
• Oversee scheduling for public service points and maintain the schedule for all staff.
• May be assigned lead functions over Assistants as assigned.

Typical Qualification

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, one (1) year of experience in customer service or similar function and three (3) years of experience in a public library or any combined education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job.
• Knowledge of computer software consistent for this position.
• The successful candidate must pass a pre-employment background screening.
• Knowledge of library classification, books and authors.
• Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.

COMPENSATION:

• The Town's complete compensation package includes salary, benefits, and a high-performance culture. The Town package includes a health, dental, and vision insurance plan, participation in the state retirement system, optional 457 deferred compensation with a town match up to 6%, vacation, holidays, and additional comprehensive benefits.
• The expected hiring range is $24.38-$25.60.
• The full hourly range is $24.38-$34.14.
