    Job Location: MoDOT Central District Office, 1511 Missouri Blvd., Jefferson City, MO.

    The assistant maintenance liaison assists the district maintenance engineer in coordinating the safe, effective and efficient operation of maintenance activities on the state highway system within the district including, but not limited to, long range planning for all maintenance operations, employee development, budgeting, serving as incident commander in district's Emergency Operations Center, and providing technical help to field staff plus other duties as assigned and identified. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.

    • Serves as a district maintenance engineer in the absence of the incumbent to direct all maintenance activities within the district.
    • Creates reports for maintenance activities including, but not limited to, summer work plans, mowing, winter operations, and tracking of district maintenance budget.
    • Assists with District and Statewide Tracker measures.
    • Leads and assists with the Emergency Operations Center during winter operations and other emergency responses efforts, on a rotational basis, including weekends and days off.
    • Aids building supervisors with inputting work plans, creating work schedules, inventory monitoring, and budgeting.
    • Provides supervision, assistance, and guidance to district maintenance personnel.
    • Plans, prioritizes, and monitors maintenance activities within the district.
    • Serves as a technical resource while evaluating and inspecting district maintenance activities to ensure performance is in accordance with department policies.
    • Inspects maintenance equipment to ensure compliance with department preventative maintenance and safety standards.
    • Evaluates staffing and equipment levels and makes recommendations to the district maintenance engineer regarding the most effective and efficient use of district resources.
    • Monitors the progress of the district maintenance activities to ensure projects are completed in a timely and cost effective manner.
    • Assists with monitoring and managing overtime and managing the market adjustment for winter operations.
    • Collaborates with other departments including assistance with development of various work plans and maintenance contracts.
    • Ensures preventative maintenance and repair work is completed ahead of STIP contract work. Examples would include pavement repair, culvert work, and crack sealing.
    • Collaborates with other districts when personnel are needed by district or being requested by another district.
    • Performs other duties as required, assigned, or self-identified.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree: Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field and six years of related experience,

      OR
    • More than ten years of progressively responsible highway maintenance operations experience.


    Special Working Conditions:

    • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
    • At least eight years of supervisory experience preferred.
