    Job Summary

    The Senior Director, Economic Development, Bay Area serves as the strategic and operational lead for economic and workforce development initiatives in the Bay Area region, connecting Cal Poly Maritime Academy to California’s broader innovation and economic ecosystem.

    Department Summary

    Working collaboratively with Cal Poly’s Economic Development division, this role develops partnerships that position Cal Poly Maritime Academy as a regional anchor for maritime and defense-related workforce pipelines, port modernization, and industrial innovation.

    Key Qualifications

    1. Demonstrated success in leading regional or statewide initiatives involving government, academia, and industry.

    2. Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to foster and build positive working relationships across academic, government, and industry partners.

    3. Proven project management and stakeholder coordination skills.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, economics, engineering, maritime studies, or a related field and eight (8) years of experience in economic development, workforce development, maritime industry, or public-sector partnerships.

    Salary and Benefits

    The anticipated hiring range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000 annually. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.

    Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).

    Supplemental Information

    This position may be "Designated" under California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. This would require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within 6 months of assuming office and every 2 years thereafter.
