Deschutes County Behavioral Health (DCBH) is the Community Mental Health Program providing safety net and core clinical services for community members in Deschutes County dealing with mental health and substance use conditions. ABOUT THE JOB:Deschutes County is currently accepting applications for a Psychiatrist, Adult or Pediatric to join our Health Services team. This position will focus on providing out-patient services to underserved adults and/or children with a range of psychiatric diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:- Services will include a full range of comprehensive psychiatric assessments, medication management, consultation, and clinical leadership within department multidisciplinary teams.
What You Will Bring: Knowledge of or experience with:
- Psychiatric principles and practices, laws, rules and regulations governing the provision of care to patients in the State of Oregon.
- Processes, procedures and theories of clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of behavioral health clients.
- Principles, practices and theories of clinical education of patients in the areas of psychiatric care.
- Providing licensed medical services in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules.
Skill in:
- Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
- Working with computer applications related to work.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, community partners and other social or medical agencies at all times.
- Dealing with sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality of privileged information, as well as complying with all privacy and security regulations.
- Communicating clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Responding calmly and professionally in crisis, stressful, and emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from a school of medicine with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Psychiatry degree.
- Must be board certified or board eligible in psychiatry and have a physician license in the State of Oregon.
- Requires a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate by date of hire.
Preferred for this position:- Experience in a public or community mental health position.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Necessary Special RequirementsDriving is a requirement for this position. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
Possession of the required licensure to practice in the State of Oregon.
Must have dependable transportation and be willing and able to drive throughout Deschutes County in sometimes adverse weather conditions.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule when necessary, to meet client and department needs.
Computer literacy with strong typing and computer skills required.
Candidates must not be excluded (or Opt-out) from participation in the federal health care programs (Medicaid, Medicare and other federally funded programs that provide health benefits); AND must not be excluded from participating in federal procurement (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and non-procurement activities (Executive Order No. 12549).
All clinicians providing Mental Health services must be eligible to be enrolled in Oregon Medicaid as a MH Provider within the first 30 days for hire.
Physical Requirements: Requires sufficient ambulatory ability to drive throughout Deschutes County to different office or community locations when needed. Must have the ability to work in an office that is environmentally controlled; possess sufficient hand coordination to perform keyboarding and data entry; arm/hand movements to retrieve work materials and operate a variety of general office equipment; The position is frequently required to sit, walk, reach, stand, grasp, talk, hear, and see; may occasionally be required to stoop, bend, kneel, and may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
