Long Branch State Park, 28615 Visitor Center Road, Macon, MO 63552. This position typically works Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Shifts may vary occasionally with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility.
- Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair or alteration of state buildings and facilities.
- Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities and grounds.
- Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
- Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
- Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
- Basic computer and customer service skills for timekeeping and regular report tracking.
- Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed; including completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
- May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.
- This position may be required to obtain and maintain appropriate commercial operator’s license, water/wastewater certifications, and/or other required licenses/certification. If required and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.

- Knowledge and ability to repair and maintain historic structures.
- Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.
- Skill and ability to operate tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain chainsaws to include experience felling trees.
- Ability to provide and follow directions.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical manuals.
- Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts.
- Available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays.
- Ability to walk long distances on uneven terrain in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions and have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Basic computer and customer service skills to help with camping reservations, retail sales, email inquiries, and regular report tracking.
- Maintenance on historic buildings and structures may require employees to wear respirators, Tyvek suits, gloves and boots.
- May be required to do work from an aerial lift to trim trees.
- This position will be required to have Level 1 Prescribed Fire training. You will be given 12 months from the appointment date to obtain the necessary training. As a park employee, you will perform routine duties and/or assist with controlled burns or wildfires.
