San Bernardino County Public Works Department - Water and Sanitation Division is seeking dedicated
Maintenance Workers (Public Service Employees) to support the operation and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. In this role, you will assist with a range of routine field and facility maintenance tasks to help ensure reliable service to our communities.
These positions are
extra-help, non-regular roles classified as Public Service Employees. Assignments are temporary and are expected to last up to 12 months, with schedules of up to 29 hours per week.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Working Conditions: Applicants must be able to: perform heavy manual labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions; work in desert and mountainous areas, remote locations, and other locations as needed; have the ability to drive in all weather conditions; and work weekends and holidays and respond to emergency calls as needed. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and have the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend over, and crawl for extended periods in the performance of job duties for this position.
Health and Physical: Persons seeking appointment to this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties established by the San Bernardino County Public Works Department.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required; a division vehicle will be available. A valid CA driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance is required at time of appointment.

Desired QualificationsThe excellent candidate will possess the following:- License: Possession of a valid CA Class A driver license.
- Certification: Any CA State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) water certifications.
- Experience: Six (6) months of maintenance experience in a water/wastewater facility.
- Education: Six (6) semester units from an accredited college or university in the subjects of Environmental Science, Biology, Physics, or Water/Wastewater Technology.
