Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
Why you’ll love this position: Within the Division of Learning Services, the Office of Special Education, the Effective Practices section works with school districts to identify effective research and data-driven monitoring, accountability and assessment of instructional practices in areas of literacy, positive academic and behavior interventions, supportive, personalized and relevant special education instruction, technical assistance and professional development that encourages parent/district/community involvement working together to develop a clear and common focus for students with disabilities.
- Perform clerical tasks in a well-organized and timely manner and prioritize daily workload, answer telephone for section providing general information on section programs, activities, policies.
- Work with limited supervision, using excellent verbal and written communication skills with discretion and confidentiality while adhering to agency policies, rules, and procedures.
- Maintain section/staff meeting calendar of various out-of-office meetings, trainings, conferences, etc. including the Post-Secondary Transition Training Institute.
- Perform various data entry functions, entering data accurately into the computer to generate spreadsheets, reports, charts, and graphs.
- Prepare, copy, collate and proofread documents dealing with routine matters, following specified procedures, and/or oral instructions for meetings and conferences, business correspondence, spreadsheets, brochures, newsletters, manuals, PowerPoint presentations and all materials to be published in print or online to ensure accuracy and adherence with department style guide.
- Update, maintain and oversee content for section web site while working closely with Communications to make sure that specific protocol and procedure is followed.
- Complete logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops, and conferences to include registration, creation, and dissemination of materials, preparing invoices, and taking minutes.
- Coordinate and manage contractual requirements, review bills and invoices for accuracy before completing payment paperwork.
- Prepare department purchase requisitions (DPRs) and print requisitions.
- Assist with the completion of web updates and routine inspection for the Special Education website.
- Perform other related work as assigned by section Director and two Assistant Directors.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: - Graduation from high school or high school equivalency.
- One year of progressively responsible administrative duties.
