    Why you’ll love this position:

The Cloud Security team is seeking a Cloud Security Specialist to join the Office of Cybersecurity. This role will play a critical part in designing secure cloud solutions across multiple platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud), supporting agencies statewide. The Security Architect will work closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure cloud environments are secure, compliant, and optimized. While primarily focused on architecture and governance, the position will also be hands-on at times, providing direct support in building, configuring, and troubleshooting. This is a unique opportunity to influence cloud strategy at the enterprise level, while also gaining exposure to a wide variety of technologies and real-world use cases.

    • Authorization to work in the United States is a prerequisite of employment. The Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

    • The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Office of Cybersecurity (OCS).

    • Partner with infrastructure and application teams to review cloud projects, ensuring adherence to security and compliance requirements.
    • Develop and maintain security standards, guardrails, and policies for multi-cloud environments. Support hands-on implementation of security solutions such as IAM controls, logging/monitoring, encryption, and network protections.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to review vendor-managed cloud solutions and provide recommendations.
    • Participate in incident response investigations related to cloud security.
    • Assist in cost optimization, tagging strategy, and governance enforcement.
    • Contribute to automation initiatives, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and secure code scanning. Mentor engineers and agency partners on cloud security concepts and practices.

    • Ability to translate business needs into secure technical solutions.
    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong documentation and reporting skills to support audits, compliance, and executive briefings. Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, State security policies, Zero Trust).
    • Ability to balance hands-on technical tasks with higher-level architectural responsibilities.
    • Professional certifications are a plus (e.g., cloud provider certifications from AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle; or security certifications such as CCSP, CISSP, CISM, Security+).
    • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
