    Job Location: The candidate will be expected to work out of one of the existing regional offices located in Raytown, Macon, Springfield, Jefferson City, Chesterfield, or Cape Girardeau. Click here to view the regional office locations.

    The Office of Childhood provides a comprehensive approach to childhood care and education in Missouri. It includes programs related to child care, home visiting, early learning, and early intervention for children birth to age five, as well as afterschool programs for school-age children. The Office of Childhood is responsible for overseeing DESE’s efforts to expand and improve high-quality early learning opportunities. The Regulations section processes fingerprints and conducts background screenings for child care and First Steps providers. They also manage regulations for child care and the administrative rules for the Office of Childhood.

    • Provide application support for child care systems including problem resolution, reporting problems to the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD), and testing.
    • Assess business needs and assist in the development of new child care applications or enhancements to existing child care applications.
    • Develop and maintain application user manuals.
    • Work with leadership to coordinate the development and facilitation of system or application training for staff statewide.
    • Serve as the Primary Security Officer for requests that grant user access to child care applications.
    • Gather and disseminate monthly statistics to internal/external partners and compile data, as requested, when requests are received by the Department.
    • Assist with the development of child care procedures, as requested.
    • Demonstrate k nowledge of data systems and ability to learn new data systems.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of training methods and techniques for presenting training.
    • Operate audio-visual aids and other equipment used in training process.
    • Able to set and follow priorities, successfully adjust to rapidly changing situations, and concurrently manage multiple tasks.
    • Demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills.
    • Interpret laws and regulations.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Department staff, other state and local agencies, and the public.
    • Perform other duties as required.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in education, child development, social/human services, business, human development and family studies or other related area.


    OR

    • Four or more years of professional or technical experience in child care licensing, social/human services, education, business, project management or contract management, and possession of a high school diploma or high school equivalency.
