    The Role at a Glance

    The Student Technician , under direction, will assist the marketing team with various photography and video projects, as well as social media postings. This position is responsible for utilizing knowledge of DSLR/video cameras and related equipment to capture digital images, audio, and video. It will also involve uploading digital assets to various online storage servers, cloud platforms, and secondary devices.

    This role will use a variety of communication methods including email, phone, and text to coordinate photo and video shoots with different programs within the division. The Student Technician may also assist in proofing digital and print media using software provided by the division. In addition, this position may support other marketing needs, which can include posting and updating content on social media channels, researching current digital archiving methods, working with office-specific information systems, and assisting with a wide variety of marketing projects and special events.

    This position reports to the ITSI Marketing Manager.

    Qualifications of the Role:
    • High School Diploma or GED and current enrollment in an undergraduate degree-granting program at an accredited college or university.
    • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.


    Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

    Social Media Posting - 50%
    • Posts content to various @TEEXSafety social media channels.
    • Researches and utilizes current social media trends to increase engagement.
    • Works with different social media platforms such as: Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.


    Photo Image Asset Review and Editing - 30%
    • Reviews and digitally catalogs images for future/upcoming social media posts and emails content, website images and printed photo assets. These image assets will then be further categorized to determine a ranking of quality and assets will then be uploaded to various applications for photo sharing purposes using correct naming conventions upon completion of each photo shoot.


    Photo/Video Shoots - 15%
    • Meets with program instructors to determine best time and dates for specific photo shoots to include texting or emailing program training managers and/or instructors to determine the optimum time to schedule the photo/video shoot.


    Other Duties - 5%
    • Works with ITSI Marketing department to meet project objectives.
    • Assist with special events in the local area which may include set up and tear down of marketing materials and equipment.
    • Utilizes state vehicle to run departmental errands (i.e. print shop or local vendors).
