As a Custodial Worker you will assist the Custodial Manager in managing custodial team members. The Custodial team provides housekeeping services to ensure a safe, sanitary, comfortable and pleasing environment for all Veterans, Veteran families, visitors and staff. This position is responsible for helping to maintaining an inventory of supplies and tools. Work may also involve performing routine maintenance on equipment.
Hourly Pay: $17.77
Examples of Work: - Assist supervisor in ensuring overall cleanliness of facility
- Prepare assignments as requested by supervisor, i.e. daily assignments, weekly, monthly, quarterly and special projects
- Provide input or supportive documentation regarding housekeeping employees’ performance
- Assist in the preparation of schedules/assignments for weekly, monthly, quarterly and special projects
- Coordinate with Purchasing to purchase needed equipment and supplies for department as requested by supervisor
- Ensure safe handling and storage of cleaning supplies
- Assist in scheduling cleaning services to coordinate with resident’s daily routine and preferences
- Ensure housekeeping/laundry personnel respect resident rights, particularly privacy and confidentiality
- Ensure safe work practices are adhered to and personnel are knowledgeable in handling chemical and machinery
- Dust/wash sinks, showers, toilets, lighting, fixtures, windows, windowsills, etc.
- Move furniture to adequately clean and dust
- Pick up trash cans or litter bending or stooping repeatedly or continually over time
- Clean, sanitize and deodorize rest rooms
- Dust, mop, vacuum, scrub, wax, shampoo and spot clean carpeting and floors utilizing wet floor signs and safe work practices
- Sweep sidewalks and entrance ways
- Clean and dust office
- Climb ladders, stairwells, or steps to reach objects
- Walk long distances and remain in standing position for extended periods
- Operate large and small power driven machinery such as a vacuum sweeper, buffer, or other similarly sized equipment
- Wash walls and windows lifting arms above shoulder level
- Use sanitizing agents and disinfectants in appropriate areas
- Ensure soap dispensers are kept full. Ensure paper towel dispensers and toilet paper dispensers are stocked appropriately
- Know and follow procedures for handling hazardous chemicals
- Adhere to infection control procedures as trained
Qualifications: - 1-2 years of work experience
- Substitutions may be allowed
Physical Requirements: - Physical requirements and activities include: balancing, finger dexterity, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, repetitive motions, and frequent washing of hands throughout working hours
- Essential sensory and communicative activities include: feeling, seeing, speaking, hearing and smelling
