Tacoma Power is seeking an Assistant General Manager, known as the Section Manager, to provide strategic leadership for the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Section and serve as a key member of our senior leadership team. This role represents the highest level of leadership within the T&D organization and plays a critical role in advancing the utility’s mission to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable power to the communities we serve.
We are seeking a leader who is customer-focused, skilled in managing within a unionized environment, brings strong budgetary and financial expertise, and demonstrates proven, collaborative leadership.

This position is multi-faceted and we are looking for someone with a proven track record in leadership, operations management, and regulatory compliance.
The T&D Section Manager will oversee a variety of services including planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution systems - including substations, underground network systems, revenue metering facilities and all overhead transmission and distribution systems.
The ideal candidate is expected to work openly in a collaborative environment, think strategically, and balance the operations and management of a talented workforce. Modeling effective communication and fostering an environment of trust are critical to successfully managing our diverse workforce of highly skilled labor and craft apprentices, technical experts and administrative professionals.
Qualifications
Minimum Education*
Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, economics, finance, accounting, engineering, project management or directly related field
Minimum Experience*
10 years of power industry experience directly related to area of assignment including 1 year of experience as supervisor or manager
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
Some positions may require individuals to complete annual CIP training after employment and pass a comprehensive personal risk assessment (background check) prior to employment and every five years thereafter as required by federal regulatory requirements (NERC-CIP)

Hourly Rate: $109.25 - $153.81
Annual Salary: $227,240.00 - $319,924.80

Other Employment Information
Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
