Why you’ll love this position:The supervising bridge inspection engineer supervises and coordinates the bridge inspection program for state-owned span and culvert type bridges, ensuring consistency and accuracy of data and effective dissemination of inspection findings; provides expertise and training on bridge inspection and bridge maintenance to districts, divisions and outside entities. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.
What you’ll do: - Reviews and acts on critical bridge inspection findings including developing or coordinating action plans.
- Supervises and coordinates the bridge inspection program and ensures compliance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards.
- Acts as the liaison with districts, divisions, other state Departments of Transportation, consultants, contractors, and external bridge inspection customers for bridge inspection and bridge maintenance related issues.
- Acts as the liaison with the Bridge Division regarding inspection schedules, inspection findings, load ratings and repair plan development.
- Supervises bridge inspection personnel; makes hiring and other employment related decisions, assigns work, disciplines employees, and conducts performance management.
All you need for success:Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
- Must meet requirements for Team Leader for Routine Bridge Inspections in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (23 CFR 650 Subpart C).
- Nine years of experience in highway or transportation engineering. Successful completion of a range of motion examination and a medical-physical examination.
Special Working Conditions: - Job requires regular, statewide, overnight travel.
- Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
- This title requires advanced accreditation or licensure which is only available to holders of specific postsecondary degrees.
