Human Resources Division as a Part-Time Intern!
As an HR Intern, you won’t just sit on the sidelines — you’ll be part of a dynamic team and get hands-on experience in every corner of public sector HR. From recruiting and employee relations to benefits, Workers’ Compensation, wellness programs, and succession planning, you’ll see how HR drives the entire organization from start to finish.
At San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, every day brings something new! Our Human Resources division plays a role in every corner of the organization, giving you the chance to gain broad, hands-on experience. While we can be flexible with scheduling, the ideal candidate will commit at least 15-20 hours per week

- Assist with recruitment and onboarding, including job postings, resume screening, applicant tracking, scheduling interviews, and preparing onboarding materials.
- Maintain and update employee personnel files and databases, both physical and electronic; ensure confidentiality and organization.
- Support benefits administration, and general employee inquiries.
- Assist in training and development, coordinate programs, maintain records, and participate in special initiatives like wellness events
- Assist with HR-related research and reporting, compile data such as new hire reports, org charts, metrics, and presentations.
- Contribute to special projects, such as policy updates or classification studies
- Provide general administrative support, including correspondence, data entry, filing, responding to inquiries, and ad hoc tasks.
Must Have:
- Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort with HRIS or database systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Basic understanding of public-sector HR policies or labor laws (e.g., California or federal labor regulations) is a plus.

ABOUT THE DISTRICTThe San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is an independent Special District in Contra Costa County responsible for providing a high level of emergency and non-emergency services to the communities it serves. The District's service area encompasses approximately 155 square miles, serving the communities of Alamo, Blackhawk, Danville, Diablo, San Ramon, the southern boundary of Morgan Territory, and the Tassajara Valley. The communities are primarily residential, commercial, office park, and controlled manufacturing, along with wildland areas, protected by nine stations and one volunteer staffed station with 185 employees, and 56 volunteers. Financial oversight and strategic policy direction are provided by an elected 5-member Board of Directors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS·At least eighteen (18) years of age.
·Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/university program in Human Resources, Communications, or a related field.
