    MOS Code: Navy (002609)

    Education and Experience : Associate's Degree or higher in Culinary Arts, Business Administration, Science, Travel and Tourism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, and two (2) years of special event planning experience.

    Licenses and Certificates : Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.

    General Purpose

    Under general supervision, coordinate culinary program events, oversee facility kitchen maintenance, and implement the rental program.

    Typical Duties

    Plan, organize, and oversee special events and signature culinary programs. Involves: Confer with other department staff before, during, and after planning culinary programs. Organize, schedule, develop, and implement all aspects of commercial kitchen rentals and pre-event and event day coordination. Determine the scope of commercial and teaching kitchen rental agreements and facility events. Prepare documentation for each rental agreement or event and submit to the supervisor for approval. Prepare materials and present them to the mayor and council or the appropriate department staff. Arrange for staff, equipment, or services such as catering, floral arrangements, security, or entertainment necessary to execute events. Set up or arrange for the setup of rental events. Provide and coordinate equipment operation and setup, refreshments, and display for various facility gatherings. Purchase all necessary supplies. Maintain an updated inventory of all commercial and teaching kitchen supplies and equipment. Monitor events in progress and resolve problems that arise. Work at public-facing programs and events to maintain the safety and security of culinary rental spaces and facilities.

    Oversee, conduct, and review kitchen preventative maintenance inspection, reviews, including routine cleaning and inspections, rental and/or special event program agreements and permits for the Culinary Arts Program. Involves: Managing calendar for all kitchen areas and terrace, event promotional calendars, email marketing database, and budgets. Meet with representatives of organizations and companies to discuss rental policies and procedures. Coordinate and maintain relationships with partners and sponsors. Acquire program and event sponsorships as needed. Meet with the requesting party or contractors to go over guidelines and regulations. Maintain and monitor all commercial and teaching kitchen equipment and warranties.

    Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures: Involves: Coordinate enforcement of policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Recommend changes to internal controls to ensure compliance with culinary industry safety practices. Coordinated safe operational and working procedures with affiliated agencies. Act as the liaison with other departments. Promote safety awareness initiatives and campaigns to inform and educate staff, tenants, and vendors. Maintained records on training, accidents, and other maintenance activities.

    Perform administrative duties. Involves: Responding to inquiries and providing event and facility information for rentals. Assist in developing materials to promote activities and facilities to current and new partners. Attended meetings to represent the department and promote events and programs. Evaluate programs for effectiveness and participation levels. Develop new programs and recommend improvements. Track services, monitor results, and generate operational and funding reports. Investigate complaints and respond to inquiries, complaints, and concerns. Perform duties of subordinate personnel as necessary to ensure continuity of operations.

    Supervise assigned staff and volunteers. Involves: Schedule, assign, instruct, guide, and check work. Provide training and development. Enforce personnel and safety rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony. Interview applicants and recommend hiring, termination, discipline, or other employee status changes.
