    The Position

    Bargaining Unit: Management - Mgmt Classes, Classified & Exempt

    District Representative, Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, District 5

    • Serve as a principal liaison to assigned Municipal Advisory bodies
    • Establish and maintain communication with locally elected officials and/or their staff to ensure smooth functioning between offices
    • Assigning roles and responsibilities for some projects
    • Representing the elected supervisor at community events
    • Overseeing the weekly constituent newsletter

    Minimum Qualifications

    License Required: Possession of a valid driver's license may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.

    Education: Possession of an Associates’ degree from an accredited college or university in public relations, business, communications, management, political science, economics, psychology, sociology, social science or closely related field, or successful completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university.

    Substitution for Education: Additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis for the required education.

    Experience: One (1) year of experience serving as a member of a Board of Supervisors, or three (3) years of experience in a public or private agency which involved sensitive public issues and exposure to policy and budget review and interpretation.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in media, communication, journalism, or public administration
    • Experience working in a public agency (particularly an elected office)
    • Experienced with crafting timely press releases and social media announcements

    CONVICTION HISTORY

    DISASTER SERVICE WORKER

    All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
