    The Position

     

    Ready to make an impact? Your next big adventure starts here? The Auditor-Controller's Office is looking for a Senior Accountant-Auditor to join its dedicated team. This position is a high-level lead position within the Auditor-Controller's Office and will work collaboratively to achieve the highest standards of accounting and financial reporting for Napa County and its residents. The position will be key in the compilation of the Annual County Financial Report, monitoring budgetary controls and general ledger postings, overseeing Special District Audits and many other complex projects throughout the year. As a lead over a very detailed function of the office, this position will provide support and guidance to the Accountant Auditor I/IIs in their daily work and will assist the Deputy Auditor-Controller in the pursuit of excellence in accounting and financial reporting.

    This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time vacancy. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill current and future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.

     

    Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Agreed Salary Increases and Winter Time Off:

     

    • 3.5% COLA increase effective 7/1/2026
    • 32 hours of Winter Time Off

     

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

     

    Experience and Education:Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:Pattern A:Experience: Three years of progressively responsible professional level accounting and/or auditing experience, preferably in a governmental agency.Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting or a closely related field. If the major is in a field other than accounting, the equivalent of at least 15 units of college level accounting courses must have been completed.Certification: Possession of a Certified Public Accountant Certificate shall be considered equivalent to the above education and may be substituted for two years of experience listed above.Pattern B:Experience: Eight years of progressively responsible professional level accounting and/or auditing experience, preferably in a governmental agency.Certification: Possession of a Certified Public Accountant Certificate may be substituted for two years of experience listed above.License or Certificate*:A position assigned to this class may require possession of a valid California Driver's License.*Any license, certification, registration, or appointment required for this position shall be maintained (i.e., active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.
